As my Western States 100 training schedule begins to take shape, I can see that there are going to be a lot of hill repeats. It is a good thing that I don’t hate them!
That first repeat is always the worst (and in today’s care the slowest), while you are still figuring out how the day is going to go, sorting through in your mind if you can actually make all of those reps you need to do. It was snow on the ground, but at least the weather was clear and the sidewalks were being treated with chemicals as we ran (it is crazy how quickly that works!). I know that these hill repeats, hard up and down the hills, are going to get more intense as time goes on, but given how much I get my legs to burn, I think it is great for training. Might have to move over to the longer hill through the zoo soon!
